great job Carol. Loving all the posts on twitter regarding the interview this morning and the lottery.

I truly believe he picks Dubois (if available) or Tkachuk (if Dubois is not). I had hoped it would be Juolevi if Dubois was not available but I am feeling from what he has said on TSN this morning, they will take a forward with the number 5 overall.

Thanks Carol. I would just like to mention the that while it may not change things much the combine and interviews will play a big part in a few of these top 4 through 10's future.

Anyone playing in the Memorial Cup that could improve their rankings in the first round?

I like either Dubois or Tkachuk at 5, and hope at 35, Lucas Johansen is still available.

Solid D man, who is growing his game. He stood out in the Kelowna/Victoria series I watched.

I also like Mathew Philips as a late pic. He is small, but very skilled.

Dubois and Johansen with the first 2 picks would be amazing.

I agree you only move Tanev in a deal where you know you are getting an upgrade at that position. Moving him to get another first isn't worth it unless we are talking top 5 and we know that isn't happening.
- belcherbd

Canucks should offer up Tanev and CBJ 2nd for the Oilers first in this draft. they need D help. who better than the guy some people here think is the best d on the Nux.

then Nux take both kachook and dubois.... in 2 years time they both start on the third line.

Brian Burke not happy with the "tankers"

Burke said: "Unfortunately we have had to go to a lottery because of the conduct of certain teams. OK, we're stuck with the lottery. Is this the most equitable way?

"If you're a team that picks first overall, you shouldn't be allowed to pick the first overall for some specified period of three years or five years, whatever . . . You could still pick four or five, still get a good player but you can't get rewarded for continued failure or continued luck."
- LeftCoaster

Agreed. The only exception I'd make is that the team can only win the 1st overall if it finished 30th, and can't get a top 3 in 3 consecutive years. Team could get a top 3 player in 2 consecutive years, but then would at best get the 4th overall pick.

that Tkachuk Dubois Boeser line sounds amazingly dominant. Thats future top line material there. Dreaming getting both but wow...if it were to happen...

Chances are if Edmonton does not trade the pick (which could very well happen) I definitely think they would take Dubois at 4.

Do you honestly think Horvat is a first line centre in the NHL?

Horvat's SR - Long-term he projects as an ideal third-line center in the NHL. He could find himself on a team’s top six.

Virtanen's SR - Long term he projects as a heavy-hitting power forward with a nose for the net. He will be among the Canucks top six forwards in the near future.

I don't know if two years is giving them enough time to develop. That's a lot of expectation for these two.

How about Tanev, Gaunce, and a pick for the 4th? The pick would not include this years 1st. Next years 1st?

I have to think that if EDM is going to put their 1st in play for a D-man, it will be for a higher profile one like Shattenkirk ( ), Fowler, Vatanen, Barrie, etc. Although, 4th overall for any of those players seems pretty steep for the calibre they are.

Right, forgot that it changes to your actual place after first round. 33rd is even better ..

You're right, but I can't help to make the comparison to the 99 draft when we got two back-to-back picks in the top five. Nice way to kick off the rebuild. If you have those back-to-back picks then you can start addressing need instead of just BPA.

Dubois?

More than likely you would see a name like RNH traded. It would be nice to have Dubois start on the wing and adapt to the NHL easier.

I would think Yakupov and Eberle traded before RNH and why take a kid who primarily plays center, and slot him on the wing where Brown/Tkachuk/Nylander are natural wingers. TBH - I think EDM will keep the pick and go for Juolevi anyway. I don't think they are going to get a number 1 D-man through summer acquisitions anyway so they will need to continue to fill the d-man prospect cupboard.

I doubt anyone would offer it up, but if someone offers a 1st for RNH, you'd think the Oilers would jump at it.
